2017 Ford Focus 1.5-litre EcoBoost Red And Black Edition

At today’s opening of the Carlist.my MAA DRIVE Test and Buy event, Ford Malaysia has on display the new special edition variant of the Ford Focus hatchback, the Focus Red And Black Edition.

Priced at RM120,888 excluding insurance, the Focus Red And Black Edition is positioned mid-way between the entry Focus Trend hatchback and the highest specifications (and identically priced) Focus Sport+ hatchback and Titanium+ sedan.

From the outside, the special edition Focus is clearly differentiated from the Focus Trend by its polished-black 17-inch wheels, high gloss black wing mirrors, radiator grille and lower air dam with integrated front lip, as well as high gloss lower rear spoiler on the rear bumper. There’s also a discrete but sufficiently sporty looking body kit fitted.

The headlights and tail lights remain the same as the Focus Trend – halogen multi-reflector headlamps in front and bulb-type tail lights behind.

Inside, the Focus Red And Black Edition builds on the Focus Trend’s interior. It retains the same manual air-conditioning and 3.5-inch dot matrix display Sync infotainment system with 6 speakers.

However, the interior has been upgraded with leather upholstery, including leather wrapped steering wheel, versus the Trend’s fabric seats and urethane wrapped steering wheel. The seats however, remain manual adjusting.

• Ford Focus Red and Black Edition hatchack: RM120,888
• Ford Focus Sport+ hatchback: RM139,888
• Ford Focus Titanium+ sedan: RM139,888

All variants are powered by the same 1.5-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine, paired to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
