Home News Auto News 2016 Subaru XV facelift launched in Malaysia – from RM133k onwards 2016 Subaru XV facelift launched in Malaysia – from RM133k onwards Auto News Kon | October 21, 2020 02:37 pm Little over a month after its regional debut at last year’s Thai Motor Expo, the facelifted Subaru XV is officially launched in Malaysia. The improved model incorporates additional features and get mildly revised aesthetics to distinguish itself from its predecessor. Locally assembled at the Tan Chong Motors Assembly (TCMA) plant in Segambut, the new and improved XV is offered to Malaysian buyers in two variants, both featuring a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine arranged in Subaru’s renowned Boxer configuration: Standard 2.0i – RM132,724.65 Premium 2.0i-P – RM137,074.89 Prices are quoted on-the-road inclusive of GST and insurance for private registration in Peninsular Malaysia. Like all Subaru models bar the BRZ, the XV distributes traction evenly to all four wheels through the company’s famed Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. Power from the naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre port fuel injection engine is rated at 150PS and 196Nm. Standard transmission for both variants of the XV is Subaru’s in-house developed Lineartronic CVT, designed specifically for the brand’s unique engine-driveline architecture. Claimed fuel efficiency is 7.9 l/100km. What’s new in the facelift? Updates to the 2016 XV start from the cosmetic – the front fascia incorporates a new hexagonal grille and headlight clusters with C-shaped position lamps. Sharper contour lines adorn the front bumper, and the 17-inch alloy wheels now sport a revised design. Over at the rear, new combination lamps and rear fog lights complete the external revisions. A very unique feature in the XV are its side mirror-mounted indicators. In addition to the outward-mounted bulb as we see in most cars with this feature, Subaru has also added a series of LEDs lined under the surface of the mirror itself. When activated, the LEDs blink in such a way that the driver sees a blinking arrow flashing on the mirror. Quite why this feature is not mentioned louder on the vehicle’s official marketing materials is puzzling. The interior notably gets an array of premium features such as multi-info display in a revised instrument cluster, keyless entry and start, aluminium pedals, and electric adjustment for the driver’s seat. Leather upholstery on the seat wears distinctive orange contrast stitching. Most of these features are exclusive to the Premium model, however. Variant Overview The following features are offered in the standard XV 2.0i model: One-touch indicators Paddle Shifters 60:40 split-folding rear seats with central armrest Multi-function steering wheel with tilt & telescopic adjustment Auto climate control Cruise control Airbags: dual frontal + driver knee Safety: ABS, EBD, Electronic stability control (VDC), Brake assist & override, ISOFIX Engine Immobiliser Front & Rear Fog Lamps Halogen reflector headlamps with level adjustment 17-inch alloy wheels Topping up a bit over RM4k to the premium 2.0i-P model gets, in addition to the features above, the following: Daytime running light LED signals in side mirror Keyless entry, start-stop button Aluminium pedals Retractable cargo cover Uprated instrument cluster Touchscreen multi-function display USB/AUX-IN Premium Audio Reverse Camera Electric adjustment for driver seat Voice Command The new facelifted 2016 Subaru XV is officially available for bookings at all Subaru showrooms nationwide.
