2016 Honda Accord Facelift Opens For Bookings
Auto NewsFollowing its recent launch in the Thai market, the new facelifted 2016 Honda Accord is set to make its arrival in Malaysia as all 88 authorized Honda dealers across their country open their order books for the updated D-segment sedan today.
A popular choice within its segment, the current ninth-generation Accord has to date accumulated 23,000 sales in Malaysia since its launch in 2013. The new facelift, which brings updated looks and equipment to the table, should serve to add considerably to that tally.
As before, Honda will continue to offer the Accord with a three-tiered line-up consisting of the 2.0 VTi, 2.0 VTi-L, and 2.4 VTi-L variants. There is no indication that the Hybrid variant offered in Thailand is being planned for Malaysia.
Prices of the new model have yet to be announced, but we don’t expect them to stray far from the current versions. At present, the Accord is priced as follows (OTR with insurance):
- 2.0 VTi: RM141,100
- 2.0 VTi-L: RM152,300
- 2.4 VTi-L: RM178,200
Mechanical components of the 2016 Accord are expected to continue unchanged, but Honda has yet to disclose equipment levels of the respective variants.
Externally, the new Accord can be identified by its redesigned front and rear bumpers, as well as revised head and tail lamp clusters featuring LED illumination. Alloy rim designs are new as well.
The new Accord will be offered with a range of five colours:
- Obsidian Blue Pearl – new for Honda
- White Orchid Pearl – new for Accord
- Lunar Silver Metallic – new for Accord
- Modern Steel Metallic – existing colour
- Crystal Black Pearl – existing colour
The new Accord will be on tour in road shows across the country from 12 Aug to 4 Sept 2016 at the following dates and locations:
