2015 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe Officially Launched In Malaysia: From RM789k

Keeping the lid on its mightier M6 Gran Coupe for the moment, BMW Group Malaysia has just launched its new, facelifted 2015 6 Series Gran Coupe.

You’ll have to drop a whopping RM788,800 (OTR without insurance) for the sole variant, a 640i Gran Coupe, but rest assured the package comes with BMW Malaysia’s latest 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranted and Free Scheduled Service Program).

The new prices is a slight increase from the pre-facelift version of the four-door luxury sports coupe (RM8,800 more), but it does come loaded with a lot more toys.

So what’s new to get?

As you ought to know by now, exterior changes brought on by the new 6 Series Gran Coupe largely surround what you see in front of the car, and a barrage of updated materials inside it.

EXTERIOR: Starting outside, the changes include a redesigned kidney grille, the addition of a few new chrome trims. Adaptive LED headlamps with Selective Beam technology is standard kit, and so is the superb-looking 19-inch M double-spoke alloy wheels.

The new frameless design information display screen is present, while the head unit’s displays have also been improved to be seen better is various light conditions, including harsh sunlight.

A neat new party trick of the 6 Series Gran Coupe is its Seatbelt Parking feature, which detects when you’re about to park the car, and loosens the seatbelts via an electric motor to free up the driver’s body for easier movement.

The interior itself is available in two bicolour options, being a Nappa leather upholstery in either Ivory White on Black, or Cognac on Black.

PERFORMANCE: With just the one variant carried forward by BMW Malaysia (640i), so to does the 3.0-litre six-cylinder BMW TwinPower engine continue to feature. Making 320hp and 450Nm of torque, the inline six-pot is capable of launching the behemoth 6 Series Gran Coupe from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.4 seconds.

And to make the sprints and speed bursts all the more fun, BMW has added a new sports exhaust system which has an adjustable flap. Activated when the car’s Sport mode is turned on, the flap creates a louder and sportier exhaust note.
