2014 Subaru XV STI Performance Edition Debuts In Malaysia, From RM144k

Motor Image Malaysia, the official distributor of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia, today unveiled a new variant of its best-selling model in the country, the 2014 Subaru XV STI Performance Edition. The new variant is priced at RM143,800 (without insurance).

So What’s New?

Before we get any further, let’s make it clear that no changes have been made to the new XV STI’s powertrain, nor have there been any tune-ups involved. The 2.0-litre FB-series Boxer four-cyl engine still makes 150PS of power at 6,200rpm and 196Nm of torque at 4,200rpm. The CVT transmission is also retained, as well as the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

EXTERIOR: As you can see, there are quite a few changes that take shape on the Subaru XV STI, and these start with an STI-specific front, rear and roof spoiler. There are also new side skirts, a flexi-tower bar see in the engine bay, daytime running lights, and of course, STI Performance badges all around. The wheels are 17-inch alloys.

INTERIOR: Inside the sporty SUV, the improvements over what’s familiar include chrome climate control dials, a matte silver steering wheel control panel, and side panels.

Subaru has also shared with us that the cosmetic changes here have all been wind-tunnel tested by Subaru Tecnica International (STI) by using FHI’s wind tunnel test-lab to compare the aerodynamics effects, driving stability and manoeuvrability between the original Subaru XV and the STI Performance Edition.

Mr Glenn Tan, Executive Director of Tan Chong International Ltd said: “Subaru customers are very discerning and there has been growing interest for the Subaru XV in the ASEAN region. Therefore, to cater to this increasing demand for the XV, we want to be able to offer a variety of options to our customers, and hence, you have the STI Performance Edition.”

Where safety is concerned, the Subaru XV STI Performance Edition comes equipped with:

• Anti-theft security system with engine immobiliser
• ABS with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution
• Brake Assist
• 3 airbags (Front SRS, Driver Knee)
• Vehicle Dynamics Control System (also known as ESP/ESC)
• ISOFIX Child-Seat Anchors
• Side-door reinforcement beams
• Hill-Start Assist

Other creature comforts include:

• Cruise control
• Audio system with DVD + iPod/ USB/ Bluetooth connectivity, touch screen panel and six speakers
• Auto AC system + anti-dust filter
• GPS navigation
• Paddle shifters
• Steering wheel mounted audio satellite switches

Buyer’s Guide:

The new 2014 Subaru XV STI Performance Edition will also be sold in Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore under the Motor Image Group. In Malaysia, bookings have already begun across the country, with the new-look XV available for viewing at all Subaru showrooms.

New Subaru 3S Centre Officially Opens In Petaling Jaya

Alongside the launch of the new 2014 Subaru XV STI Performance Edition, Motor Image Malaysia also took the opportunity to officially open its newest 3S Centre (Sales, Service, Spare Parts) in Petaling Jaya.

The centre is located along Jalan 51A/223, Petaling Jaya (just a little after Menara Axis/ can be seen from Federal Highway).
