Volvo S90 T8 PHEV CKD Open For Bookings In Malaysia; RM349k Intro Price
Berita KeretaThe order books have been quietly opened on the soon-to-arrive plug-in variant of the all-new Volvo S90. Set to be locally-assembled, the Volvo S90 T8 is expected to benefit from EEV tax incentives enabling to hit the market at a competitive price.
We have been tipped by a Volvo dealer that the range-topping T8 Twin Engine Inscription trim will be available at an introductory price of RM348,888 for orders confirmed before 31 October. In Volvo speak, Inscription denotes the most luxurious trim grade on offer.
At present, the fully-imported S90 is priced at RM388,888 for the 254 hp T5 2.0-litre single turbo petrol engine and RM453,888 for the 320 hp T6 twincharged version of the same powerplant.
As seen in the XC90 T8, the S90 T8 features the T6’s 2.0-litre twincharged mill powering the front wheels whilst a 65kW/240Nm electric motor drives the rear in an all-wheel drive setup of sorts.
As a comparison against rivals, the locally-assembled Mercedes-Benz E-Class retails from RM348,888 to RM383,888, whilst the BMW 5 Series – yet to be locally-assembled at this point – goes for RM398,800 for its sole 530i M Sport variant. The Audi A6 starts at RM327,900 for its 1.8 TFSI model with a recently-introduced 2.0 TFSI quattro model going for RM407,900.
Upon its introduction, the S90 T8 will supersede the current T5 and T6 models to become the S90’s sole variant on offer in Malaysia.
We have also been informed that the S90's sister model, the V90, will for the moment continue to be sold as a fully-imported model at RM393,888 for the T5 and RM458,888 for the T6 variant.
