Volkswagen confirms imminent arrival of new Jetta variants and all-new Passat B8

Volkswagen Group Malaysia will be launching new variants of the Jetta as well as the all-new Passat B8 in our market this year. This was disclosed by Managing Director Armin Keller at the opening of Hicom Auto Sdn Bhd’s Volkswagen Semenyih 3S Centre.

Speaking to the press, Keller also revealed that Volkswagen’s recent ‘Drop Everything’ sales campaign was a success in clearing out existing stocks of the Polo, Jetta, and Passat to make way for the new introductions.

Earlier this year, Keller already promised a series of new Volkswagen launches without elaborating on the specific model to be introduced whilst speaking at the opening of FA Wagen’s Volkswagen Sri Hartamas 3S Centre.

Based on available information, we know that the Passat is likely to launch as a locally-assembled model, although the actual variant to be offered in our market remains unknown to us. Globally, the Passat B8’s engine range currently consists of 1.4-, 1.8-, and 2.0-litre TSI engines along with 1.6- and 2.0-litre TDI engines. Selected markets also get the plug-in hybrid GTE variant.

The Jetta, meanwhile, is likely to get a refresh of its trim level similar to what the Golf underwent recently. Currently, Volkswagen offers the Jetta in Malaysia powered exclusively by its award-winning 1.4-litre TSI twincharged engine with 160PS and 240Nm.

Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Semenyih 3S Centre is the latest addition to Volkswagen’s still-growing dealership network in Malaysia. To date, it is already the fourth new Volkswagen outlet to open in the country this year.

Established with an initial investment of RM10.7 million by Hicom Auto Sdn Bhd, this 3S centre is catered for customers based in southern Klang Valley from areas such as Semenyih, Kajang, Balakong, Putrajaya, and Nilai.

Spanning over 34,030 sq ft, the Volkswagen Semenyih 3S Centre has floor space big enough to fit 8 cars and a customer lounge. Its service centre has a total of 11 service bays manned by 12 experienced and trained technical staff.

Volkswagen Semenyih 3S Centre operates from 8:30am to 7:00pm on weekdays and from 10:00am to 5:00pm on weekends. Aftersales operations run from 8:30am to 5:30pm from Monday to Saturday. Facilities for customers include computers and a café bar. Pick-up and drop-off services are available on request by appointment basis.
