Volkswagen 60th Merdeka Edition Beetle Unveiled – Only 16 units, 1.2L TSI, RM136,888

In conjunction with the upcoming National Day celebrations, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) unveiled a very special model at the ongoing Volkswagen Fest 2017 – the 60th Merdeka Edition Beetle.

Priced at RM136,888, the Merdeka Beetle will be offered in Pure White and White Silver colour options, decked in special livery with the number “60” splashed on its hood and sides similar to the iconic Herbie Beetle.

Features that are unique to the Merdeka Beetle include:

• Leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel
• Special exterior livery
• 5.8" Touchscreen 'Composition Colour' with USB and Bluetooth
• 8-speaker audio system
• ‘Pepita’ fabric seat cover

Under its hood, power is supplied by a 1.2L turbocharged TSI engine paired to a 7-speed DSG transmission, producing a maximum output of 105PS and 175Nm of maximum torque.  

According to VPCM, only 16 units of the 60th Merdeka Beetle will be made available, and all of them come with five-year warranty, 60-months road tax, and a limited edition Beetle suitcase.

The 60th Merdeka Edition Beetle will be available alongside many of its classic brethren at the ongoing Volkswagen Fest 2017 at the Setia City Convention Centre till Sunday, where Volkswagen enthusiasts from all walks of life will be celebrating their love for the brand.

Over the three days, there will be plenty of activities for visitors and their family members to delight in including food trucks, live music performances, open mic sessions for aspiring artists, free snacks and clown appearance for the kids, nail art for the ladies and a special Sunset Yoga and Zumba session for fitness enthusiasts.
