Renault’s Passage Through 40 Years of F1 Competition

Renault Sport has released a rather special video to commemorate 40 years of spirited Formula 1 competition; with a cute little twist at the end.

The video takes us on a walk through time, highlighting the milestones and various technological innovations the team has brought to the fore. The video closes with a charming nod to a nickname the team was given in the early days, remembered by the man who gave Renault Sport its first victory. 

Renault Sport was created in 1976 and debut in Formula 1, the following year. Renault Sport won their first Formula 1 race in 1979 at the French Grand Prix, with Jean-Pierre Jabouille at the wheel of the RS11.

Renault Sport also celebrates a driver line-up that features the biggest names in the sport, such as Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. Renault Sport has notched up 170 Grand Prix wins, 11 driver’s championship and 12 Constructors Championships in its time in Formula 1.
