Updated 2019 Mazda MX5-RF Is Here – New Features,More Power, From RM259k

Bermaz Motor Sdn Bhd, the authorised distributor of Mazda vehicles in Malaysia has announced the arrival of the updated 2019 MX5-RF in Malaysia.

Available in two variants (MX-5 RF 2.0L M/T and MX-5 RF 2.0L A/T), the roadster is priced at RM 259,154 and RM 260,354 (otr without insurance) respectively, which is about RM33,000 more than the outgoing model which was priced at RM227,277.

The big news is of course, the updated 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated SkyActiv-G four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 184 PS and 205 Nm of torque, which is a 24 PS and 5 Nm bump from before.

Plus, the engineers at Mazda have also ensured that there is a richer torque curve throughout the entire rev range. Speaking of rev range, the MX-5 RF’s engine now revs up to 7,500 rpm, which is 700 rpm higher than the outgoing model. The engine is paired to a choice of either a SkyActiv-Drive 6-speed automatic gearbox, or a 6-speed manual transmission.

Engine aside, the MX-5 RF now receives Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.  Both systems are accessible via the Mazda Connect Infotainment system.

Other upgrades include new black-metallic 17-inch wheels across both variants and the addition of the new telescopic steering wheel (42mm of travel).

Fully imported from Japan, the MX-5 RF is available in 7 exterior colour options (Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Jet Black, Snowflake White Pearl, Eternal Blue, Ceramic Metallic, and Artic White), and comes with a 5-Years Manufacturer Warranty with 5-Years Free Maintenance inclusive of labour, parts and lubricants.

Both Manufacturer Warranty and Free Maintenance have a coverage period of five years and a mileage limit of 100,000km, whichever comes first.
