Toyota Corolla Cross Spotted – Launch In Q2 of 2021

The long rumoured Toyota Corolla Cross, Toyota’s TNGA platform based C-Segment SUV has finally hit home soil. This time courtesy of a keen-eyed observer from Facebook we have our first sightings of the Toyota Corolla Cross SUV in West Port. 

The three images give us a good glimpse of the exterior of the Corolla cross, a rear shot, which clearly shows the 1.8G badge – leading us to believe these are the range-topping units. The images provide yet further proof that Toyota will go ahead with a launch sometime in Q2 of 2021, as confirmed by UMW Toyota Motors in a recently released corporate statement.

A separate interior shot gives a clear as day look at the clean and functional interior which visibly shows leather seats, a central infotainment touchscreen, and a digital climate control panel. 

The powertrain should mirror that of the Toyota Corolla sedan, which is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.8-litre inline-four engine that produces 139PS and 173Nm of torque – which is paired with a slightly revised CVT-type automatic transmission.

In the case of the Corolla sedan, the “G” variant is supplied with the Toyota Safety Sense package that includes a wealth of integrated safety systems such as the pre-collision system (PCS), lane departure alert (LDA) with steering assist,  lane tracing assist (LTA), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM). This remains to be seen on the Toyota Corolla Cross.
