Toyota Announces Vios Sports Edition - RM85k, 27 mm lower

Earlier, we reported that UMW Toyota Motor has opened bookings for the new Toyota Vios Sports Edition. Now, the company has released more details about the sportier Vios, in conjunction with the first-ever Vios Challenge race set to happen this weekend. 

Unlike the racing Vios, the Vios Sports Edition is street-legal, retailing at RM85,300 (OTR without insurance). Stock is limited.

The Toyota Vios Sports Edition comes standard with a sports suspension kit that lowers the ride height by 27 mm, compared to a standard Vios. Apart from lowering its ride height, the sports suspension also sharpens the Vios' handling as there is less body roll during cornering.

Outside, the Toyota Vios Sports Edition gets a custom-designed five-piece body kit, including a front skirt, side skirts and a large rear wing. UMW Toyota added that the body kit is not just for looks, as it helps to reduce the amount of air flowing under the car, thus improving high speed stability. Apart from that, the exterior of the Vios Sports Edition is enhanced by body decals mimicking the Vios Challenge race car. Completing the exterior are exclusive alloy wheels finished in black and an exclusive rear emblem.

Moving inside, the Toyota Vios Sports Edition gets unique carpet mats, sports gear knob, illuminated scuff plates and amber illumination for the front footwells. The seats of the Vios Sports Edition also receives exclusive sports seats with red stitching.

As for the powertrain, the Vios Sports Edition is powered by the same 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 107 PS and 140 Nm. Unlike the Vios Challenge race car that comes with a five-speed manual, the Vios Sports Edition is CVT only. Safety equipment includes ABS with EBD, Traction Control, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Brake Assist and two airbags. 

Buyers of the Toyota Vios Sports Edition will receive free merchandise which includes a Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) polo shirt and cap that can be customised with their name, and a Sports Edition tumbler.
