Tokyo 2018: Toyota GR Super Sport Concept Revealed, Preview Of Future Models

Toyota Gazoo Racing has unveiled the GR Super Sport Concept at the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon. The concept car was first teased in December 2017.

As the concept has been revealed, Toyota Gazoo Racing has released details of the powertrain. According to them, the GR Super Sport Concept features a 2.4-liter twin-turbo direct injection V6 that is hooked up to the Toyota Hybrid System – Racing (THS-R), for a combined output of 1000 PS.

The GR Super Sport Concept is based on the Toyota TS050 Hybrid

The company also reiterated that its participation in the World Endurance Challenge (WEC) has been a highly beneficial and necessary project in terms of developing its hybrid and EV systems. Toyota also confirmed that the GR Super Sport Concept is mostly made out of the same hardware as the TS050 Hybrid racer that competes in WEC.

Shigeki Tomoyama, President, GAZOO Racing Company mentioned that the new GR Super Sport Concept is a preview of what Toyota Gazoo Racing wants to achieve with their next-generation of sports cars.
