Tokyo 2015: Porsche Rolls Out the Macan GTS Ahead of Schedule
Berita KeretaWell this is a surprise. It has been suggested that the international debut of Porsche’s Macan GTS was slated for next month, but it turns out that the Stuttgart-based car maker had jumped the gun and rolled it out here at the Tokyo Motor Show. Considering that Japan is Porsche’s sixth largest market, the decision to roll it out earlier than usual does make some sense.
Just as how the ‘GTS’ variants of the Cayenne, Panamera, Boxster, Cayman, and 911 features an uprated version of the engine used in the ‘S’ variants, retuned with a sportier character with a sportier appearance, it is the same story for the Macan GTS here. Under the hood the Macan GTS utilises the same 3-litre V6 twin-turbo engine as the Macan S, only with the power and torque figures cranked up from the S’ 340hp and 460Nm to 360hp and 500Nm of torque.
Its 0 to 100km/h time takes a 0.4 second tumble to 5 seconds flat, while top speed is bumped up by 2km/h to 256km/h.
Also like the other GTS variants in the Porsche’s current stable, the ride height on the Macan GTS has been lowered by 10mm, and splashed with black exterior accents that is seen on the front headlights, front air intakes, 20-inch rims, lower door side blades, window trim, and the model designation on the boot lid.
The sporty theme continues on the inside with the fitment of GTS sports seats with Alcantara upholstery and GTS logos emblazoned on the headrests. As an option, the interior can be further tarted up with the GTS interior package which adds a red-face centre rev counter, contrasting red stitching, and red seat belts.
Rather than stopping at giving it a new suit and looks, the Macan GTS’ stability management system is also recalibrated for its role. The Macan GTS can also be specified with Porsche’s optional Torque Vectoring system to give it the additional grip on top of the Macan’s all-wheel drive system. Its air suspension has been fitted with the Porsche Active Suspension Management system that keeps the ride pliant and sporty at the behest of the driver, or at the discretion of the system.
