GST, HVGT, could resurface as part of Budget 2025 alongside RON95 rationalisation, says RHB analyst. Are we ready?
Utama Berita Rencana Three Things We Want To See From Perodua In 2021 Three Things We Want To See From Perodua In 2021 Rencana Aswan | December 11, 2020 03:25 PM It's been a tough year for sales with an explosive pickup in the second half, but what do we want to see from Perodua next year? You can most assuredly say that 2020 has been an awful year for automakers. But even with that in mind, many companies across the segment have made an effort to go ahead with their plans undeterred - whether that's through online global debuts, or rolling models straight out to the market. With 2021 right around the corner, we can hope to see even bigger and greater things - and we have some pretty high expectations. In our own market, let's take a look at what we hope to see from Perodua in the coming year. Myvi GT The aftermarket may have helped to bridge the gap a little by producing bumpers and other trim pieces to emulate the Myvi GT, but there's no denying that the demand and attention Perodua received when they pulled the covers off their concept was astounding. In 2021, we hope that they finally get round to building a road-going model - maybe not with any specific increase in performance, but at least with the aesthetics and interior gubbins. D55L Small SUV Throughout this year there have been numerous spy shots and concept images of the Perodua D55L - an upcoming SUV based on Daihatsu's DNGA platform and something that would slot below the Aruz as it is. The D55L would be a welcome addition to the range, although for now the Daihatsu Rocky (as it would be based on) is only powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor. As much as we hope Perodua will follow suit, a 1.3-litre or 1.5-litre powerplant would be more likely. An All-New Alza Also one for spyshots in the wild, the Alza replacement model has been long overdue. This seven seater model would have a tough time given the existence of the Aruz, though one could argue that other companies have done the same with similar segment spacing. 2021 would be a great year for a proper replacement to the now 11 year old model. There's much more we could ask for, but we think these three models would keep the Perodua name in the bright lights for the majority of Malaysian consumers. 2020 may have been a tough year, but the economy will recover - as it always does - and automakers need to be ready for an extremely hungry market.
