Subaru Previews All-New 2019 Forester At The Carlist.my Drive Auto Fair 2019

Of the staples in the Subaru range, the Forester has been a model that has long been awaiting a major change – and later this year we will see the official launch of the all-new model. For the time being, Subaru has been openly teasing the model – and most recently at the Carlist.my Drive Auto Fair 2019, they put the new Forester up for a preview.

The most important aspect of the new model is that it sits on an entirely new global platform – although this isn’t something you can see or touch, but rather something you can feel in the driving experience. Powertrains across all variants are in the form of the FB20 2.0-litre naturally aspirated direct injection engine that makes 156 PS and 196 Nm of torque, and a Lineartronic CVT-type automatic transmission

On display at the fair is the mid-range 2.0i-S variant, with the 2.0i-L and 2.0i-S ES variants sitting lower and higher respectively. It comes packaged with front LED fog lamps, LED daytime running lights, auto-levelling LED headlamps, a powered rear tail gate, steering responsive headlights, and a special X-MODE over the regular L variant.

You might mistake this all-new model for its predecessor as Subaru’s approach to styling has always been iterative rather than revolutionary – save for the jump between the second and third generation. On the whole, the practical aspects of the Forester are retained with improvements in refinement and comfort.
