Second Generation Audi Q5 Previewed, Target To Launch In Malaysia Next Year

Audi Malaysia, distributor of Audi vehicles in Malaysia, together with regional distributor Audi Singapore has just previewed the second generation Audi Q5 at the Premium Auto Car Expo happening at the Setia Alam Convention Centre.

The second generation Audi Q5 features a larger interior space thanks to the longer wheelbase. Driving performance has also improved courtesy of a reduction in kerb weight, by as much as 90 kilograms through the usage of the MLB-Evo platform.

The vehicle on preview at Setia Alam is a Q5 2.0 TFSI Quattro. The turbocharged 2.0-litre engine delivers 252 hp and 370 Nm of torque and delivers four-wheel traction through the brand’s well-known Quattro system. The engine, together with the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (S-Tronic) sets a time of 6.3 seconds on the benchmark century sprint.

Inside, the vehicle that is meant for the Singaporean market is equipped with the beautiful Audi Virtual Cockpit fully digital instrument panel. Much of the interior features switchgear and design elements from the Audi A4 sedan. 

Audi Malaysia is expecting to launch the second generation Q5 next year, giving customers who are shopping for a Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, BMW X3, Lexus NX 300, and Volvo XC60 another option to consider.   

Alongside the second generation Q5, Audi Singapore also previewed the compact Audi Q2.

The upcoming new range of SUV models are key to the regional distributor’s push to bring the Audi brand back to strength in Malaysia. Expect a busy year from them then.
