Proton Begins X70 CKD Trial Runs At Tanjung Malim

Amidst the launches of various facelift models and the raging success of their first ever SUV, Proton has managed to dodge one of the biggest questions on everyone's minds: when is local production of the X70 going to begin? It seems that the highly popular model has already begun trial runs at their Tanjung Malim plant, with the final trim, paint, and assembly lines still being tweaked to optimize production.

Proton's engineers and production workers have already started semi-automated test runs in order to gain experience with the construction of the Proton X70, with production to start in the second half of 2019. In under two years, Proton will be achieving a significant milestone in their partnership with Geely, and there will be many more variants and models to come which will really revitalize Proton's image locally and potentially abroad as well.

All of this news comes during a visit from China's Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Mr Miao Wei, who was witnessing the signing of a joint venture agreement between Proton Edar Sdn Bhd, Altel Communications, and ECarX (Hubei) Technology Co Ltd, China.
