Perodua Registered 1,025 Aruz Units In a Single Day; 20,100 Units Total In January
Berita KeretaPerodua is off to a good start in 2019 with over 20,100 vehicles in total sold in January, and a whopping 1,025 units of the Aruz registered on 31st January alone, roughly two weeks after the model was launched.
Perodua Sales Managing Director, Dato’ Dr. Zahari Husin said, “Despite the delay in the registration of Aruz, we managed to maximise the delivery of Aruz up to the wee hours, in anticipation of the long CNY break. Pending official figures from MAA, we estimated our market share for January 2019 to be around 41.7 percent market share for Perodua and 9.2 percent growth from 18,400 Perodua vehicles sold in December 2018.”
The January figures also show positive growth of 13.6 percent, over the same period in 2018 (17,700 units). In terms of a model breakdown, the Myvi leads the charge with 8,400 registered units in January, followed by the Axia, Bezza, and Alza with 5,500 units, 3,400 units, and 1,600 units respectively.
The Aruz has received over 8,000 bookings since its launch, a large majority of those orders – around 85 percent – are for the Aruz AV variant (priced at RM77,900 without insurance), and 15 percent for the Aruz X (priced at RM72,900 sans insurance).
The huge demand has led to longer delivery waiting periods, which Perodua has said it’s trying to manage. Perodua has also quashed speculations that the Aruz prices will increase, adding that the prices announced at the launch will not change.
