Perodua Myvi Price Drop: Which Variant to Buy?
Panduan PembeliWith five variants of the Perodua Myvi available, which one is right for you?
Following the Prime Minister’s recent announcement that there will be a 100% sales tax exemption on new completely-knocked-down (CKD) vehicles and a 50% exemption for completely-built-up (CBU) vehicles until the end of the year, if you've been wanting to get your hands on a new car, now is the time.
Furthermore, Perodua announced today that they are offering discounts from 3% to 6% for their models even before the tax exemption comes into play.
One of the most sought after models will definitely be the Myvi, and if you’ve been eyeing one and can't decide which variant to get, let us guide you through a spec-by-spec comparison to help you decide which version you should get.
First and foremost, there are five variants for you to choose from, with pricing (on the road without insurance) as mentioned below. Please keep in mind that these prices are before discount or sales tax exemption, and they will be slightly lower by the time you visit the showroom:
- Myvi 1.3L G Manual – RM42,790
- Myvi 1.3L G Automatic –RM44,590
- Myvi 1.3L X Automatic –RM46,590
- Myvi 1.5L H Automatic – RM50,290
- Myvi 1.5L AV Automatic –RM54,090
The reason why we’re sharing this spec-by-spec guide is due to the fact that the difference in price between one variant and another is only a small margin, which translates into only a few hundreds in monthly installments.
So, if you know exactly what the car offers, and what is the differences are in terms of features, you will be able to decide whether to go for a higher-spec model, or to just stick to a lower-spec variant and save some money in the process.
First let's look at the list of standard features offered in every variant, starting with the engines.
Powering the all-new Myvi are the 1.3- and 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engines from Toyota’s all-aluminium NR-series family manufactured at the Daihatsu Perodua Engine Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (DPEM) plant in Sendayan, Negri Sembilan.
The 1.3-litre 1NR-VE engine, available in conjunction with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, is rated with outputs of 95 PS and 121 Nm – identical numbers to its application in the Bezza. Auto start/stop is available in the higher of the two trim grades of 1.3-litre engine.
The 1.5-litre 2NR-VE engine, meanwhile, is paired exclusively to a 4-speed auto and comes standard with auto start/stop. It is rated with outputs of 103 PS and 136 Nm. Although built on the same block, it is not exactly the same engine as the slightly more potent 2NR-FE mill powering the Toyota Vios with 107 PS and 140 Nm.
Both engine versions of the Myvi are certified as energy efficient vehicles (EEV) with official rated fuel consumption ranging from 4.7 to 5.0 litres/100km, supposedly making it 32% more efficient than the outgoing model.
