New Mercedes-Benz C-Class Facelift Introduced In Malaysia, Priced From RM259,888

The updated C-Class range, which was first announced earlier this year at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, has been introduced here by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

New to the C-Class range is Mercedes-Benz’s EQ Boost, which is a 48 Volt electric system with a belt-driven starter/alternator. EQ Boost only recuperates kinetic energy and charges the battery only when decelerating with the throttle off, and the system is not capable of regenerative braking.

The updated C-Class family starts with the C200, powered by the company’s new 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that does 184 hp and 280 Nm. EQ Boost is able to supplement the engine’s output by another 13 hp when accelerating.

Moving up the ladder is the C300, powered by a larger 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, now delivering 258 hp and 370 Nm.

Both the C200 and C300 feature a 9-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission that sends drive to the rear wheels.

Sitting at the top of the C-Class range is the C43 sedan, now delivering 390 hp and 520 Nm from its 3.0-litre biturbo V6.

A 9-speed AMG Speedshift TCT 9G automatic comes as standard, which sends power to all four wheels via the AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive system. The hot C43 sedan completes the century sprint in just 4.7 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

In terms of equipment, the updated C200 will now receive:

• 18-inch alloy wheels
• Open-pore grey oak wood trim
• Blind Spot Assist
• Audio 20 infotainment system
• 10.25-inch media display
• 12.3-inch Digital Instrument Display
• Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

As for the C300, this model adds the following equipment:

• 19-inch AMG alloy wheels
• AMG Line exterior package
• Multibeam LED headlights
• Active Lane Keeping Assist
• AMG Line interior package
• Black open-pore ash wood trim

Moving to the current range-topping C43 sedan, this biturbo V6 variant further adds this equipment on top of the C300:

• AMG matt silver glass-fibre interior trim

Prices start from RM259,888 for the C200, while the C300 is priced from RM304,888. The hotter C43 sedan will set buyers back by RM421,888. All prices quoted are on-the-road, without insurance.
