Motor Expo 2016: Volvo S90 D4 Launched In Thailand

Berita Kereta

Following the introduction of the new Volvo V40 at the 33rd Thailand International Motor Expo, Volvo Car Thailand has taken the covers off its long-awaited S90.

Priced at THB 3,990,000, the S90 will give some Swedish competition to a segment that’s currently dominated by the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Unlike the rest of Volvo Car Thailand’s Malaysia-assembled models, Thailand's S90 is imported from Sweden, as the Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia plant in Shah Alam has yet to assemble the S90.

The Thailand market S90 is currently only available in one trim – the highest specifications Inscription trim, which comes with high-grade wood trimming, 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, the full suite of Sensus infotainment system and Intellisafe package.

The cabin’s fine Nappa leather can be specified either in black (Charcoal) or cream (Amber).

The sole engine on offer is the D4 2.0-litre Drive-E twin-turbo diesel. Paired to a front-wheel drive 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission, the 190 hp and 400 Nm D4 engine accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.2 seconds.

Unlike Malaysia, Volvo Car Thailand’s model line-up is dominated by diesel-powered models. The S60, V60 and XC60 are also powered by the same D4 engine while the XC90 is available with either a D5 or a T8 (petrol-electric plug-in hybrid, same as the model offered in Malaysia) engine.
