Mercedes-Benz Malaysia To Launch EQC And S560e
Berita KeretaMercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has dropped a teaser on its Facebook page, indicating that not one, but two EQ-branded models will be introduced here soon.
First up is the Mercedes-Benz S560e, a plug-in hybrid variant of updated S-Class. The plug-in hybrid S560e was showcased at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, succeeding the S400h in Mercedes-Benz’s growing portfolio of plug-in hybrids. The S400h has since been discontinued.
Power for the S560e comes from a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 that does 367 hp and 500 Nm, which is supplemented by a 90 kW electric motor with a peak torque of 400 Nm. Thanks to a 37 Ah battery pack, the S560e is able to boast an electric driving range of about 50 km.
Compared to the now-discontinued S400h, the battery pack found in the newer S560e is more compact, meaning boot space is marginally more spacious in the S560e versus the S400h – increasing from 395-litres to 410-litres.
Next up is the full-electric Mercedes-Benz EQC. While it may look similar to the petrol-powered GLC, Mercedes-Benz insists that the EQC is more than just a GLC converted to run on electric power.
The EQC gets a pair of electric motors – one on each end of the SUV, allowing the SUV to be AWD and boast 408 hp and 760 Nm. Foot flat on the throttle, the EQC completes the century sprint in just 5.1 seconds. But driven sedately, the EQC boasts a range in excess of 450 km.
As the EQC runs on electric power, it does not require cooling like a conventional engine, so Mercedes-Benz took liberty and redesigned the entire front end. The end result is a sleeker-looking, more handsome SUV with subtle EQ branding littered across the exterior.
Expect more details later this week after MBM officially introduces these two models.
