Mercedes-Benz EQC Makes ASEAN Debut In Malaysia

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has introduced the electric EQC here in Malaysia, marking the debut of the company’s EV in the Southeast Asian region.

The model that was previewed here (yes, previewed, but more on that later) is a left-hand drive EQC 400 4Matic, which gets dual electric motors – one motor on each axle. The pair of electric motors are capable of outputting 408 hp and 760 Nm, allowing the EQC 400 to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.1 seconds. By comparison, the hot Mercedes-AMG GLC43 completes the same century sprint in 4.9 seconds.

Considering that the EQC was developed as an EV from the ground-up, engineers at Mercedes-Benz managed to fit the lithium-ion battery in the vehicle floor, keeping the centre of gravity as low as possible. The lithium-ion battery pack packs 80 kWh of energy, which in turn allows the EQC 400 to boast a driving range of up to 471 km.

Standard equipment on the EQC 400 include:

  • Multibeam LED headlights
  • Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus
  • 19-inch five-spoke Aero wheels
  • Brown open pore ash wood trim
  • Electric Art interior
  • Ambient lighting
  • 360-degree camera
  • MBUX infotainment system
  • Head-up display
  • Burmester surround sound system
  • Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
  • Active Distance Assist – Distronic
  • Steering Assist
  • Active Parking Assist with Parktronic
  • Active Speed Limit Assist

As mentioned earlier, the EQC shown here is merely a preview of what’s to come, as deliveries of right-hand drive units of the EQC have yet to commence. This particular EQC will also be making its rounds around the region as part of its launch campaign. Considering that this is merely a preview, prices have yet to be announced.
