Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan Launched In Malaysia; From RM229k

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has just introduced the all-new A-Class sedan in Malaysia. Available in two variants, the A200 Progressive Line and A250 AMG Line are priced at RM 229,888 and RM 267,888 (estimated) respectively. The A-Class sedan is fully-imported from Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Like the hatch model, the key highlight of the all-new A-Class sedan is the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, which utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) to allow users to use natural language voice commands to control various features of the new model. However, MBUX requires an active internet connection - which our local cars don't have - thus our local A-Class range has a limited range of voice recognition capabilities. 

Here’s how the A-Class sedan matches up against its hatchback sibling and its primary rival, the Audi A3 sedan:

Mirroring the A-Class hatchback, the A200 sedan utilizes torsion beam rear suspension while the A250 sedan uses a multi-link independent rear setup. Both variants receive the dual 10.25-inch displays up front. 

The A200 sedan is powered by a turbocharged 1.33-litre, 4-cylinder engine which produces 163 hp at 5,500 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1,620 - 4,000 rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).

The A250 is powered by a larger turbocharged 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine which produces 224 hp at 5,500 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,800 - 4,000 rpm. A 7-speed DCT sends power to the front wheels.

The A250 AMG Line adds the following features:

• Light longitudinal-grain aluminium trim
