Mercedes-AMG C63S Coupe (W205) Launched In Malaysia; Priced From RM774k

The performance flagship of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe is here. The Mercedes-AMG C63S Coupe is now officially launched in Malaysia, joining its sedan counterpart as part of the larger Mercedes-Benz Dream Cars Collection.

Pricing starts at RM773,888 on-the-road without insurance for the ‘base’ C63S Coupe, but early takers can top up an additional RM22,000 for Edition 1 variants, which are being offered for a limited but indeterminate period.

As seen in the C63S sedan, the C63S Coupe is powered by Mercedes-AMG’s 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 rated with outputs of 510hp and 700Nm. Based on the M178 unit featured in the Mercedes-AMG GT, the M177 powerplant features hot-inside-V configuration with its two turbochargers nestled in between the cylinder banks.

The engine mates with AMG’s Speedshift 7-speed multi-clutch transmission to send power astern. Mercedes-Benz claims a century sprint time of 3.9 seconds and a derestricted top speed of 290 km/h when specified with the AMG Driver’s Package. The C63S sedan, in comparison, is a tenth of a second slower to 100km/h but maxes out at the same top speed.

Suspension kinematics of the C63S are unique to the model, meaning it does not feature components that can be installed on a plug-and-play basis into a regular C200. The rear axle, in particular, is newly-developed from ground up, featuring 12 links in total and its wheels spaced 25mm wider than the C63S sedan.

For further enhanced handling, the C63S Coupe also features an electronic limited-slip differential that serves to reduce slip of the rear inner wheel when cornering. It uses a multi-disc clutch with two compression rings to ensure that torque is always routed to the wheel with better traction.

Externally, Edition 1 units can be identified by a distinctive graphite grey matte stripes along its body. Those with even more cash to splash can opt to have their vehicles finished design magno selenite grey matte paint with yellow contrast stripes. Price of this upgrade is upon application.
