Malaysian Made Volvo XC90 R-Design And S90 R-Design Make Thai Debut

Thai Daily Bangkok Post reported today that Volvo Thailand has expanded its product offering in the country with the R-Design variants of the Volvo XC90 SUV and S90 sedan.

The R-Design variants, which will be the range toppers for both the S90 and XC90 models in Thailand, will complement the Momentum and Inscription variants which were launched in 2016.

Built in Volvo Car Malaysia’s assembly plant in Shah Alam, Selangor, key design elements in the R-Design package include piano-black interior trimming, black leather interior upholstery, as well as bespoke wheels (the S90 gets 19-inch alloys, the XC90 receives 20-inch wheels).

The R-Design models also get a 13-speaker sound system developed with Harman Kardon as standard.

Power comes from the same powertrain package as the other T8 variants, which is a 2.0-litre petrol engine and an electric motor that pump out a total of 407 hp and 640 Nm of torque.

That being said, prices for the S90 T8 and XC90 T8 with R-Design have been set at 3.59 and 4.59 million baht respectively.
