Lexus Malaysia Launches New IS 200t Variant – From RM297,800

Lexus Malaysia has added a new model to the IS range – the IS 200t, replacing the previous IS 250 variant. Prices start from RM297,800 excluding insurance for the IS 200t Premium. 

You might have also noticed that the eye-popping price is much higher than the RM278,400 pre-order price announced in August. As you might have already expected, you can blame our falling Ringgit for it.

Yesterday, UMW Toyota has announced that starting January 2016, prices of all Toyota and Lexus models will be raised by between 4 to 16 percent, but this applies only to existing models.

For new models like the IS 200t, clearly the prices announced at its launch timing needs to take into consideration of the current forex scenario.

Prices for all variants of the Lexus IS are as below:

• Lexus IS 200t Premium – RM297,800
• Lexus IS 200t Luxury – RM349,900
• Lexus IS 200t F Sport – RM384,900
• Lexus IS 300h – RM452,100

The new IS 200t is merely a new variant to replace the IS 250. It is a not a facelift or a mid-lifecycle update model. Thus, the main difference between the IS 200t and the outgoing IS 250 is only its engine – a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit that’s also shared with the Lexus NX 200t.

All other major features remain unchanged. So there are still 10 airbags as standard. Luxury, F Sport and hybrid variants get extras like Blind Spot Monitor(BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and a 7-inch EMV screen with reverse camera and navigation system.

Other differences between Premium and higher range variants include auto dimming rear view mirror, memory function for the power-operated driver’s seat, and different interior trim materials.
