Isuzu Malaysia Continues As Top Sponsor For Borneo Safari

This year’s Borneo Safari marks the 25th year, or silver jubilee edition, of one of Asia’s most grueling off-road events and Isuzu Malaysia retains its close relationship with the yearly event, returning this year as their Diamond Sponsor.

The confirmation was made following a meeting between Isuzu Malaysia’s Executive Director Hajime Machimura together with Sabah Four Wheel Drive Association President Faez Nordin in Kuala Lumpur.

Isuzu first became involved with Borneo Safari in 2006 as a media partner and that cooperation grew from then until now, marking nine years in collaboration.

“Our close relationship with the Borneo Safari goes back nearly a decade when Isuzu Malaysia first made its mark in the country. We are glad to see that through the years, both the Borneo Safari event and Isuzu’s reputation as one of the toughest 4x4 vehicles in the market has grown significantly,” said Machimura.

This year’s Borneo Safari will be ongoing between October 25th and November 1st 2015 and is slated to draw a record count of participants with an expected convoy of over 200 vehicles.

For 2015, the event’s route will concentrate primarily around the tough and unforgiving highland area of Keningau and Tenom located within the interior region in eastern Sabah. Despite being more compact in mileage this time around, it won’t be any less challenging than previous years.

“We are very grateful for the support that Isuzu Malaysia has given to the Borneo Safari over the years, not only through its sponsorship, but also by helping to build the media publicity for the event. This partnership has been a lasting and very meaningful one and we are very pleased to have Isuzu with us again on our jubilee event,” said Faez Nordin after the meeting.

Isuzu will be supplying the event with three units of the rugged Isuzu D-MAX for use in ferrying local media throughout the duration of the event, fitted with minor modifications such as larger mud-terrain tyres, engine and body protection, as well as an electric winch.
