Isuzu Confirms 1.9 Ddi Blue Power Turbodiesel Powerplant For Malaysia

Following the preview at last years KL International Motor Show, Isuzu Malaysia has now confirmed that the 1.9 Ddi Blue Power turbodiesel engine will be introduced to the Malaysian market. No further specifics were announced but Isuzu will most probably introduce the 1.9-litre Ddi Blue Power turbodiesel powerplant in both the Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck and MU-X SUV models this year. 

While speaking at a media event today, CEO of Isuzu Malaysia, Mr. Masayuki Suzuki said, “The engine is already equipped in the D-Max and MU-X in Thailand, and we are currently planning to introduce this customised engine for the Malaysian market,”

The result of four years of extensive research, the (RZ4E-TC) 1.9-litre Ddi BluePower turbodiesel engine includes a number of technological enhancements over its predecessors – namely a clothoid curve combustion chamber, 200 MPa common rail injectors, a variable geometry turbocharger, and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system.

The 1.9-litre BluePower engine develops 150 PS, and 350 Nm of torque from 1,800 – 2,600 rpm. At the same time, its 60 kg or 20% lighter than the larger 2.5L Ddi VGS Turbo engine that it replaces.

Separately, Isuzu also confirmed that it has added three new customer touch points to its overall dealer network this year: Muar (1S: Jan 2019), Kluang (1S: Jan 2019), and Cameron Highlands (2S: Feb 2019).
