Honda Malaysia Welcomes New Managing Director And CEO

Sayōnara Toichi Ishiyama, Kon'nichiwa Madoka Chujo - Honda Malaysia would like it known that Ms. Madoka Chujo is their first woman Managing Director and CEO. 

Prior to her recent appointment in Malaysia beginning, April 1, 2021, Ms. Chujo was in charge of strategizing Honda Canada's sales and marketing as President of Honda Canada Inc. It was a role she held since 2019. Throughout her 23 years in Honda, she has held various offices in Japan, China, Spain and Canada. 

Commenting on her new role at Honda Malaysia, Ms. Chujo said, “Malaysia is indeed an important market in the Asia and Oceania region with Honda Malaysia achieving various significant sales milestones and have become one of the leading automotive brands in the country. I am looking forward and excited for my first assignment as the MD and CEO of Honda Malaysia, and at the same time I am also eager to explore Malaysia as the country is unique and a melting-pot of diverse cultures and people, with enormous potential and of course a fast-paced work environment.”

Ishiyama-san begin his exploits with Honda Malaysia in 2017, kicking off his appointment with the launch of the Civic Type-R. He led Honda to be the best Non-national Car Brand for six consecutive years, along the way helping Honda Malaysia achieve 900,000 total sales by 2019.  Not forgetting also the world premiere of the Honda City RS e:HEV that took place in October last year. 

Ms. Chujo will have big shoes to fill especially with Toyota beginning their offensive early in the year with the launch of the 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross - if anything Toyota seems to be at their strongest coming into 2021 and will fancy their shot at the crown of best Non-national Car Brand for 2021.
