Honda Malaysia Adds Sensing Tech To Accord 2.4 VTi-L, Drops 2.0 VTi Variant

Honda Malaysia announced today that the Accord 2.4-litre variant will now come with Sensing, the company’s suite of advanced driving aids systems (ADAS). It is the first Honda sedan in Malaysia to be equipped as such, and the second Honda model to do so after the all-new CR-V.

By using a monocular camera mounted behind the rear-view mirror and a millimeter wave radar mounted at the lower air dam of the front bumper, the Honda Sensing feature offers a wide range of collision avoidance and driving assistance features, as listed below:

• Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
• Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
• Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
• Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
• Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)

Honda Sensing is only available on the top of the Accord range 2.4 VTi-L Advance variant, which supersedes the previous 2.4 VTi-L variant. It’s priced at RM169,800 (excluding insurance), about RM2,000 more than the previous model.

Apart from the addition of Honda Sensing, specifications for the new 2.4 VTi-L Advance remains the same as the previous 2.4 VTi-L, retaining the Lane Watch camera, multi-angle reverse camera six airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).

Separately, the Accord’s variant line-up has now been reduced from three variants to just two. The previously available base model Accord 2.0 VTi has been discontinued. Price for the 2.0 VTi-L remained unchanged at RM149,350 (excluding insurance).

What About The Recently Announced All-New Accord?

Though announced in July, the all-new tenth generation Honda Accord only went on sale in North America in October. Currently, the model is only available in USA and Canada, made only by the Honda of America’s plant in Ohio, and is only available in left-hand drive.

Introduction in other markets, including Honda’s home market in Japan, and other right-hand drive markets like Malaysia, are not expected to begin until 2019, late-2018 if we are lucky.
