Geneva 2016: Subaru XV Concept Previews Next Generation XV
Berita KeretaThe Subaru XV Concept made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show today, previewing Subaru’s next generation crossover model.
Subaru also made a lot of references to its new design philosophy, oddly named Dynamic X Solid, which the company describes as “the powerful form of a crossover, and a quality feel beyond its class.”
Takeshi Tachimori, Corporate Executive Vice President for Subaru’s parent company Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. also revealed that the forthcoming all-new Subaru XV will be built on an all-new platform.
“Today, we will unveil the Subaru XV Concept. This will show you the design direction of the next generation Subaru XV. The new design places greater emphasis on the go-anywhere stance of Subaru XV.
“We will adopt a new platform starting with the forthcoming Impreza and XV. The Subaru Global Platform will mark yet another important step in the driving confidence of our Symmetrical AWD vehicles,” said Tachimori.
Assuming that the next generation XV will stay true to the concept car’s dimensions, it will be significantly larger than the current generation XV.
The XV Concept measures 4,520 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,570 mm tall, with a 2,670 mm long wheelbase. In comparison, the current generation XV measures 4,450 mm long, 1,780 mm wide and 1,615 mm tall, with a 2,635 mm long wheelbase.
Subaru did not say when the next generation XV will go on sale, but we think 2017 is a reasonable time frame, considering that Subaru has already explicitly stated that this previews the next generation XV, and the concept car doesn’t seem that outlandish.
