Ford Ranger Overcomes Non-stop 24-Hour Challenge

Ford and local distributor Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) organised a ‘Ford 24-Hour Challenge’ through Peninsular Malaysia in partnership with Astro Radio Group, hitz.fm to showcase the ‘Built Ford Tough’ credentials of the Ford Ranger.

The 24-hour non-stop adventure challenged the team from hitz.fm to experience tough terrain and heavy load, towing and wading activities in the heat and humidity. 

During the adventure, the Ranger was put through tests that included:

Challenge 1: 24-Hour Endurance

The ‘Ford 24-Hour Challenge’ kicked-off from Astro Radio office where the Ranger travelled for  24 hours to complete five challenges, stopping at locations in Ipoh, Penang, the Belum Rainforest in Perak, Kelantan, Kuantan, Pahang and the Klang Valley.

Challenge 2: Tough Towing

At The Port in Ipoh, the Ranger demonstrated its towing capability by pulling down a brick wall. The Ranger’s 3,500kg towing capacity with Trailer Sway Control made the task looked simple as it tackled the one-story high solid brick wall.

Challenge 3: Unbeatable Payload

Up north in Penang, the Ranger once again demonstrated its capabilities when the team loaded the Ranger’s bed with heavy loads of drinks to be distributed to the hitz.fm listeners and the crowd. The Ranger has a payload capacity of up to 1,200kg.

Challenge 4: Deep Dive Test

After 22 hours of non-stop challenges, the Ranger arrived at Ulu Tamu, Batang Kali where it tackled the rugged terrains of narrow potholed roads and crossing deep river waters. It was able to keep the vehicle’s key components dry while protecting air intake with its water-wading of up to 800mm.

Challenge 5: Towing a Jet Plane Made Easy

The ‘Ford 24-Hour Challenge’ finale ended at the Subang Skypark, RAC Hanger where the Ranger towed a 3,500kg jet plane.
