Detroit 2018: World Premiere Of The All-New Volkswagen Jetta, New 8-speed Automatic
Berita KeretaVolkswagen have officially unveiled the all-new Volkswagen Jetta at Detroit 2018.
Spanning six generations, the Volkswagen Jetta is the most successful automobile with German roots in the U.S. and the world’s most successful Volkswagen car with 17.5 million units produced.
The seventh generation Jetta will mark a big leap in technology, as it now uses the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform for better interior space, dynamic proportions and more assistance systems all in a highly digitized interior.
The all-new Jetta has grown in every dimension which allows for better accommodation for occupants. Brand identifying LED head lights and tail lights are standard fitment. The coupe-like silhouette draws design inspiration from the larger Passat as well as ideas from the group’s premium brand, Audi.
Aerodynamics were also optimized by the new proportions and more precise design. The drag coefficient (Cd) was reduced to 0.27, an improvement of around ten percent through various underbody panels, bumper air curtain and low-turbulence rear design.
Up front, the all-new Jetta will once again be powered by the efficient 1.4-litre TSI. The turbocharged, direct-injection petrol engine develops 150 hp and good thrust of torque of 250 Nm at just 1,500 rpm. A newly-developed 8-speed automatic transmission is offered, with no mention of the brand’s signature DSG transmission.
The dashboard now integrates ambient lighting, which changes light colour according to the driver profile selection. The digital instrumentation, called Active Info Display, is the highlight of the interior. Similar to those found in larger models like Passat and Tiguan, the 10.2-inch digital cockpit is driver configurable and have high levels of connectivity. An advanced generation of infotainment system plays audio through a powerful 400-Watt sound system developed by U.S. audio specialist Beats by Dre.
In terms of advanced driver assistance systems, the all-new Volkswagen Jetta is offered with adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking as well as rear and side detection systems such as blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert.
The all-new Volkswagen Jetta will launch in the U.S. market in the second quarter of 2018.
