Conditional MCO - We're going back outside!

Berita Kereta

As you're all aware by now, our Prime Minister announced in his Labour Day address to the nation last Friday that come Monday, 4 May, Malaysia will be easing its MCO into a Conditional MCO (CMCO) meaning certain economic and social activities will be allowed except for mass gatherings which would expose the public to COVID-19 infections.

It appears that the main reason for the sudden CMCO was to halt the losses the country has been experiencing. According to our Prime Minister another two weeks of the MCO would see us incur losses of nearly RM100 billion.

Soon after the announcement was made, we ran a poll on our Facebook page asking you what you thought of the decision?

A whooping 69% of you thought it was a bad call with only 31% calling it a good idea.

Subsequently there has been a petition on Change.org by a group calling themselves Rakyat Malaysia Prihatin that has garnered in excess of 400,000 signatures calling for you guessed it, the continuation of the MCO.

So far five state governments have said that they will not fully adhere to the CMCO. The five states are Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Sabah and Sarawak. More are expected to declare their positions by the end of today.

SOP's and guidelines have been put forward by the relevant ministries for businesses to comply with during the CMCO but the question on the lips of many is how will this be enforced? Are we wiser from the six weeks of the MCO we've just had or will the natures of Bolehland once again emerge?

Our suggestion is for you to continue with the precautions you've already been taking during the MCO.

  • Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap or an alcohol-based hand rub
  • Maintain social distancing
  • Avoid going to crowded places
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Wear a mask when you have to go out
  • Stay at home as much as you can

Let us know what you think of the CMCO and #MayThe4th be with you...
