BMW M3 Turns 30 – Limited Edition M3 ’30 Jahre’ Introduced

To commemorate 30 years of the iconic BMW M3, BMW has introduced the celebratory BMW M3 ‘30 Jahre’ – which is limited to just 500 units. The 30 Jahre (translates to mean 30 years) packs more power, a retuned suspension and unique detailing on the inside and outside.

Power is up by 19bhp to 444bhp while torque is rated at 550Nm, courtesy of some engine tweaks. BMW’s Competition Package is fitted as standard – this includes Adaptive M Suspension which has been retuned for the increased power output via new springs, dampers and stabilizers.

The driving modes, namely Comfort, Sport and Sport+, have also been optimised to offer sharper responses. The Active M differential and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) now feature modified settings.

The Competition Package also enlists 20-inch forged ‘666 M’ (star spoke) Light Alloy wheels wrapped in 265/30 R20 (front) and 285/30 R20 (rear) tyres.

The added performance and grip contribute to the 30 Jahre’s very brisk 3.8 second 0-100km/h sprint with the optional M double clutch transmission fitted; or 4.0 seconds with the manual transmission.

All 30 Jahre M3s will be finished in the exclusive Macao Blue metallic, which once celebrated its premiere in Europe as an option for run-out specials of the first generation, Sport Evo BMW M3.

The car also features ‘BMW Individual’ Full Merino Leather in bi-color Black/Fjord Blue with colour-matching contrast seams on the inside. Much like the recent limited edition BMW M5 Competition Edition, the 30 Jahre too will have unique badging - 30 Jahre M3 1/500”, to highlight its rarity.

Additionally, unique M gills bear the 30 Jahre logo as well as the doorsill finishers. The interior trim work is finished is carbon-fibre with Black Chrome accents and embroidered front headrests.

With only 500 units available worldwide, 150 of which marked for export to the United States, there’s little if any chance to see a 30 Jahre locally. But, there are still ways to enjoy the full fury of the M3 Competition Package here.
