Beijing 2018: BMW Concept iX3 Offers 400 Km Range, Can Be Charged In Just 30 Minutes

The BMW Group has extended the reach of its all-electric mobility offering with the unveiling of the BMW Concept iX3 at the Auto China 2018 show in Beijing.

Powered by BMW’s fifth-generation eDrive electric drive system which comprises a 270 hp electric motor and a battery pack with a capacity of more than 70 kWh, the Concept iX3 comes with a maximum driving range of 400 km per charge.

Based on the X3, the iX3 Concept also features a specially developed rear axle subframe and specific chassis integration.

The high-voltage battery can be charged in just 30 minutes from a suitably equipped 150 kW DC fast charger. 

On the exterior, key features include a closed-off kidney grille with BMW i car graphic, blue accents around the kidney, the brand logo on the hood, along the side skirts, as well as the rear apron. The concept is also fitted with light-alloy wheels in an aerodynamically optimised design. 

Set to enter production in 2020, the iX3, which will be the BMW Group’s third pure electric model following the facelifted i3 and the upcoming MINI E, will be going against models like the Jaguar I-Pace, Audi e-tron quattro, and also the Mercedes-Benz EQ C.
