ASEAN NCAP: Five Stars For New 2015 Ford Ranger
Berita KeretaAll models of the new 2015 Ford Ranger that are equipped with ESC (electronic stability control) has been awarded the maximum five stars by ASEAN NCAP.
The model tested by ASEAN NCAP is a Thailand-market model, and comes without ESC. Therefore it was given a four-star rating but ASEAN NCAP adds that because it scored a very high 15.45 points (maximum is 16.00 points) in Adult Occupant Protection, its passive safety performance is already in the five-star category. However, ESC is a pre-requisite feature to obtain the five-star rating.
In Malaysia, ESC is already a standard feature on all Ranger models sold by Sime Darby AutoConneXion, so the five-star rating applies to all Ranger models sold in Malaysia.
Even the cheapest RM91,588 (excluding insurance) Ranger XL is equipped with ESC.
In terms of child occupant protection, the Ranger scored 30.75 points (maximum is 49 points), giving it a Compliance score of 63 percent. ISOFIX and top tether are fitted as standard across all Ranger variants.
The test was conducted at ASEAN NCAP’s partner laboratory in Australia, at ANCAP’s Crash Lab facility in West Sydney, as ASEAN NCAP’s own PC3 facility in Melaka is not yet equipped to test heavier vehicles like pick-up trucks.
