AMG Hypercar To Be Officially Called Mercedes-AMG One

Mercedes-AMG’s hypercar project will now have its name set in stone as the Mercedes-AMG One.

First unveiled in prototype form at last year’s Frankfurt Motorshow to much fanfare as the Project One hypercar, the Mercedes-AMG One will be the new pinnacle for the AMG brand.

At the upcoming 2018 Paris Motor Show, Mercedes-AMG will shed more light on the AMG One’s active aerodynamics, having conducted extensive testing for months in England on high-performance race tracks.

The active aerodynamics systems, which are currently undergoing wind tunnel testing, feature a multi-part, two-stage extendable rear wing for maximum downforce in race mode. The testing and development of the AMG One have been combined effort between AMG’s Affalterbach HQ in Germany, and the Mercedes-AMG's High-Performance Powertrains (HPP) dyno-facility in Brixworth, and the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport team based in Brackley, UK.

Future Mercedes-AMG ONE customers can now obtain comprehensive information on the development progress of the vehicle via a mobile showroom dubbed "The Future of Driving Performance".

Through this initiative, Mercedes-AMG will showcase the latest status of the hypercar’s development, including a chance to sit in the cockpit, along with a demonstration of the individual equipment options. This is made possible by a custom-built trailer with extendable sides. Information will be regularly updated and supplemented. The information on offer is rounded off by video documentation and interviews.

It is known that one Malaysian buyer has already placed an order for the Mercedes-AMG One.
