All-New (G06) BMW X6 Launched In Malaysia - The Original Sexy SUV Has Returned

SUVs like the Range Rover Velar and Porsche Cayenne are going to have a tougher time starting now because the original sexy coupe SUV has returned.

BMW Malaysia's "X" model lineup has come full circle with the introduction of the all-new (G06) BMW X6. The X6 is offered here in one trim level, the xDrive40i trim level. 

Based on BMW's CLAR platform, the third-generation X6 has grown in length (+26mm), width (+15mm) and wheelbase (+42mm), though overall height has been reduced by 6mm - further lending the X6's wide stance and commanding presence.

The Malaysian market model is offered as standard with the M Sport Package which features a sport exhaust system, M Sport brakes, Adaptive M Suspension and sublime 21-inch M light Y-Spoke Style 741 alloy wheels. Also specified is the BMW Individual exterior package which adds aluminium satinated roof rails, 3D LED "L-Shaped" taillights and rear Air Breathers. 

Perhaps the most important focal highlight of the new X6 is its ‘Iconic Glow’ kidney grille which illuminates both halves of the grille, framed by a common surround. The grille is flanked by BMW Laserlights with high-beam assistant and LED fog lights.

Under the hood is BMW's venerable (B58) 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine which outputs 340 hp and a peak torque of 450 Nm between 1,500-5,200 rpm.  Power is sent to an 8-speed automatic transmission, with power channelled to all four wheels via the BMW xDrive system.

Performance stats read 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds onto an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Fuel economy is a claimed 9.0 litres/100km.

On the inside, the interior architecture is said to offer a modern reinterpretation of the classic BMW driver-focussed cabin. The seats are trimmed in Vernasca leather upholstery as standard; sport seats feature for both the driver and front passenger, which is complemented by an M leather steering wheel. 

Up top, the two-part panoramic glass roof is now 83% larger than its predecessor. The X6's rear backrest comes with a 40/20/40 split-folding function – providing a luggage capacity that can be increased from 580 to as much as 1,530 litres.

As for equipment -  the X6 is equipped with BMW's Live Cockpit Professional which enlists a 12.3-inch Instrument Display, customisable instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen Control Display. The infotainment system is augmented by the latest BMW Operating System 7.0.

Rear passengers will benefit from the Rear-seat Entertainment Professional with two 10-inch touchscreen displays. Other highlights include the Head-Up Display, BMW Gesture Control and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant functions.

The All-New BMW X6 xDrive40i M Sport also features the latest in driving assistance systems, including the Driving Assistant Professional which comes with the Cross-traffic Warning at the rear and Lane Change Warning. It also includes the Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, as well as the Steering and Lane Control Assistant.

The X6 M Sport is offered in six-colours, namely Manhattan, Artic Grey, Riverside Blue, Carbon Black, Mineral White and Flamenco Red. They can be paired with design-perforated BMW Leather ‘Vernasca’ in either Black or Tacora Red (available with selected exterior colours).

The X6 xDrive40i is priced at RM 729,800 inclusive of a 5-Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty, Free Scheduled Service Programme and BMW Tyre Warranty Programme.
