All-New 2018 Lexus ES Makes Thai Debut - Hybrid Only, 3 Variants
Berita KeretaLexus Thailand has taken the wraps off the all-new ES executive saloon.
Although the model has several engines to choose from in global markets, only one option is being sold in Thailand - the ES 300h hybrid.
Under the hood, Lexus’ fourth-generation Hybrid Drive System couples an ultra-efficient, Atkinson-cycle 2.5-litre petrol engine with a lighter, more compact, and more power-dense electric motor to further reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and deliver better power and driving performance. The newly-designed compact nickel-metal hydride battery is now small enough to be placed under the rear seats, benefitting both interior space as well as a practical boot volume of 473 litres.
As a result, the combined system output of 218 hp is 13 hp more than before, and fuel consumption has improved from 20 km/l to 22 km/l. The ES 300h can also accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.
With the new hybrid system, the all-new Lexus ES 300h emits less than 100g/km of CO2, allowing the car to be placed in a lower excise duty bracket from 16% down to 8% in Thailand.
That said, the front-wheel drive ES 300h costs 3.59 million baht in Luxury trim, while the Grand Luxury and Premium variants are sold at 3.76 million baht and 4.19 million baht respectively.
