All-New 2017 Lexus LC 500 Opens For Booking In Malaysia; 5.0 V8, RM940k!

Lexus Malaysia has opened the order books for its all-new LC 500 Coupe ahead of an unspecified launch date sometime in the near future.

Since its global debut at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show, demand for the LC is said to have exceeded expectations. Order banks in Japan is supposedly filled early on with up to three years’ worth of the vehicle’s initial projected sales volume.

That success might prove difficult to replicate in Malaysia, as the 5.0-litre V8-powered LC 500 is set to cost RM940,000 on-the-road without insurance for individual private registration in the Peninsula. Because of lower comparative road tax, East Malaysia enjoys a slightly lower price of RM936,366.10.

Eschewing prevalent trends of downsized engines, the LC 500’s natural-breathing 5.0-litre petrol V8 outputs a rated 470hp and 540Nm, which is sent to the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission. Features for the Malaysian market are not yet known.

Designed on the basis of an all-new global platform, the Lexus LC rolls out from the Motomachi plant in Tokyo that previously built the LFA supercar. Also available but not offered for Malaysia is a hybrid LC 500h variant powered by a 3.5-litre V6 mated to a multi-stage hybrid system generating a net system output of 354hp.

The all-new Lexus LC 500 is backed with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty and free service programme.
