All-New 10th Generation Honda Accord Goes On Sale in USA

Following its preview in July, the all-new tenth generation Honda Accord is now available for sale in the USA. As the US-market Accord is produced domestically at Honda’s plant in Ohio, other overseas markets including Japan is not expected to launch the all-new Accord until mid- or late-2018.

For now, only the 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo variant is available (paired to a CVT-type automatic). The 2.0-litre VTEC Turbo variant (paired to a 10-speed torque converter automatic) will only join the Accord line-up in 2018, followed by the Hybrid variant.

Prices start from USD 23,570 for the base model Accord LX, stretching to USD 33,800 for the Touring variant. Note that these prices are only for the 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo variant.

Compared to its predecessor, the all-new Accord features a longer wheelbase, wider but slightly shorter and lower body. While the two turbocharged petrol engines are new for the Accord range, the two-motor 2.0-litre petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain for the Hybrid variant is mostly similar to the previous model, save for some minor updates (details to be revealed next year).

The all-new Honda Accord enters the market at a particularly challenging time as more consumers increasingly prefer SUVs over D-segment sedans (also known as the mid-size sedans in USA). While the segment as a whole have been shrinking, the Accord is solidifying position, holding firm to the title as America’s best-selling mid-size sedan for five straight years.

In the overall market, the Accord is America’s second best-selling car, bettered only by the Honda Civic.
