Acura Showcases Its Answer To The Panamera at Pebble Beach

The recent Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance played host to another outing of Acura's Precision four-door coupe concept car, which first debuted at 2016 Detroit auto show.

Developed by Acura’s California-based design studio - it points towards a more individualistic blueprint of Acura vehicle design. The concept's wide and low stance is stretched across a low-waisted ‘fastback’ body architecture while sharply sculpted bodylines along the flanks compliment massive 22 inch wheels. At the front are Jewel Constellation LED headlights complimented by ‘floating’ LED headlights.

Acura’s design theme, dubbed "quantum continuum," boasts the seamless transition of materials and structure from the exterior into the interior of the vehicle.

For instance - the large door rocker panel flows into the interior side sill, transitioning into a cantilever for the floating rear seats. The rear centre high-mounted stoplight flows through the rear glass and then down to help form the structure for the metal ‘airfoil’ shape of the rear headrests.

There are no images of the interior yet, however, Acura have designed the Precision Concept with race-inspired sports seats, sports steering wheel with paddle shifters and Integrated Dynamics System (IDS) controls.

The concept also introduces Acura’s digital Human Machine Interface (HMI), augmented by a wide and curved centre screen is operated via a floating touch pad suspended on the cantilevered centre stack. The system scans each occupant upon entry and selects personalized features and functions, including maps, audio and customized vehicle performance settings.

The dimensions of the Acura Precision Concept are as follows:

• Width: 84 inches (2133mm)
• Length: 204 inches (5181mm)
• Height: 52 inches (1320mm)
• Wheelbase: 122 inches (3098mm)
• Wheels and Tires: 22 inch 5-spoke machined wheels, Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires.

The Precision concept's dimensions are comparable to other luxury four-door coupes such as the Porsche Panamera and Audi A7. However, Acura is only available in left-hand drive markets and won't be made available in Malaysia anytime soon.
