2017 Volvo S90 And V90 Launched In Malaysia, Priced From RM388,888

Volvo Car Malaysia has unveiled its new flagship models, the S90 and V90. These two models are built on Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), making the second phase of the company's transformation. These models were earlier spied here.

There are two models offered at launch, the S90 and V90 in T5 and T6 R-Design trim levels. Both models are fully-imported from Sweden at the moment, but plans are afoot to eventually assemble the S90 locally in Shah Alam, Volvo's only assembly plant outside of Sweden.

Engine specifications of the T5 variants are as follows:

• 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine
• 254 hp at 5,500 rpm
• 350 Nm from 1,500 - 4,800 rpm
• Eight-speed Geartronic automatic
• Front wheel drive

The more powerful T6 AWD variants, meanwhile, has the following engine specifications:

• 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine
• 320 hp at 5,700 rpm
• 400 Nm from 2,200 rpm to 5,400 rpm
• Eight-speed Geartronic automatic
• All wheel drive

In terms of standard equipment, all Volvo S90 and V90 models will receive these equipment

Those seeking for more driving thrills can opt for the S90 or V90 in the T6 AWD R-Design trim. Here, the duo receive wider tyres, Sport Chassis tuning plus a sportier exterior. The exterior changes include spoiler-integrated fog lights, unique grille with piano black trim front and back and 5-spoke R-Design wheels. Inside, the sportier variants will receive R-Design Contour seats, steering wheel with paddle shifters, carbon fibre inserts and Charcoal headlining. 

A range of colours are available, including Onyx Black, Ice White, Osmium Grey and Bright Silver. These four colours are applicable to all variants. Mussle Blue is exclusive for T5 variants whilst T6 buyers can opt for the hero colour, Bursting Blue.

Prices start from RM388,888 for the S90 T5, while the T6 R-Design costs RM453,888. The Volvo V90 T5 retails for RM393,888 and the T6 R-Design costs RM458,888. All prices are on the road without insurance, but inclusive of GST.

More is still to come, as Volvo Car Malaysia has confirmed that the T8 Twin Engine Plug-In Hybrid variant will be arriving on our shores at a later date this year.
