2017 Kia Optima GT Launched In Malaysia – 2.0L Turbo, 242hp, RM179,888

Naza Kia Malaysia has introduced the all-new fourth generation Kia Optima GT, the fourth new introduction this year after the Kia Carnival, Sorento diesel and Sportage diesel models.

Only one variant is being introduced at the outset, in GT trim, powered by a 2.0-litre direct injected and turbocharged four-cylinder producing 242hp at 6000rpm and 350Nm of torque from 1400rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Kia claims the Optima GT will complete the 0-100km/h sprint in just 7.4 seconds. Fuel economy is rated at 8.5 litres/100km on the combined cycle.

The Kia introduces a number of new aesthetic features, notably a wide “Dot Array” mesh satin chrome front grille and dual exhaust and a diffuser panel at the rear. The Kia Optima GT is 10mm longer, 30mm wider and 10mm higher than its predecessor. The 10mm height increase and 10mm increase in wheelbase length has significantly improved interior cabin space, according to Kia.

Other equipment highlights include LED technology headlights with dynamic “Bending Lights” that adjusts the main light beam according to the car’s steering angle.

Inside, the Optima GT boasts an impressive equipment list. Highlighted in the list below:

• Flat-bottomed steering wheel
• 12-way powered driver’s seat with memory function, 10-way powered front passenger seat
• Wireless phone charging
• Seven-inch TFT LCD infotainment screen with Bluetooth and Mirrorlink

On the safety front, the Optima GT is fitted with 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Control (VCM) and Hill-Start Assist. The Optima GT has been awarded a 5-Star EuroNCAP rating.

The Kia Optima GT will be offered in three different colours  - Gravity Blue, Aurora Black and Snow White Pearl at RM179,888 OTR with Insurance. The Optima GT is offered with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

The Kia Optima GT is locally assembled In Gurun, Kedah.

Separately, during the press conference, Dato Samson also confirmed that local Kia fans can expect all-new Kia Rio within the year, and Naza Kia remain positive of introducing the Stinger sports sedan in Malaysia within the year as well.
