2017 All-New Volkswagen Tiguan- From RM 149k, Coming This April

It's no secret that the Volkswagen Tiguan has been on its way here for a while, but Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has finally previewed the car today without any camouflage on.

The singular powertrain offering for our local Tiguan will be the 1.4 TSI paired with a 6-speed wet-clutch DSG that sends power purely to the front wheels. There will be two variants available: the Comfortline, and the higher-spec Highline. The Tiguan will be assembled at Pekan and benefits from EEV incentives. 

The pricing is highly attractive for these two models. While there can be no firm pricing until its launch in April, VPCM estimates that the Tiguan Comfortline will go for RM 149,000, while the Tiguan Highline will go for RM 169,000.

For early birds, there will be an extra RM 7,000 taken off the price as well, but even without the early bird offers the Tiguan is highly competitive within its segment provided that it can come in at the estimated price. 

Let's run through the specifications quickly. The model on display here is the Highline, but if you opt for the lower priced Comfortline you will get:

The new Tiguan is also wider, lower, and longer than the outgoing model- perhaps a little sleeker and a little less utilitarian, but we like the styling direction and the incorporation of the more current Volkswagen design elements.
