2016 Toyota Sienta - What To Expect When It Arrives In Malaysia

The all-new 2016 Toyota Sienta has just been launched in Indonesia, positioned between the Avanza and Innova.

We expect Toyota’s latest seven-seater MPV to be launched in Malaysia sometime between end-2016 and early-2017, with a similar positioning as in Indonesia, meaning that potential buyers can expect to budget around RM85,000 to RM115,000 for the Sienta.

Powering the Sienta is the same 1.5-litre 2NR-FE Dual VVT-i from the new, facelifted rear-wheel drive Avanza, but mounted east-west for the front-wheel drive Sienta.

Power is transferred to the front wheels via a CVT automatic. The 6-speed manual transmission in the Indonesian market Sienta is unlikely to be offered here.

These videos refer only to the Indonesian market Sienta, but as Malaysia is expected to import the Sienta from Indonesia, we don’t expect much changes from the Indonesian market Sienta.

While we are on the topic of safety, Honda Malaysia has hinted that its forthcoming BR-V, which is also a seven-seater due sometime in late-2016 (not very likely) or early-2017, will have up to six airbags as well we stability control (VSA). Prices are expected to be more or less the same as the Sienta’s, if not lower. An entry price of below RM90,000 was bandied about in the initial stages, but this was before the collapse of the Ringgit’s value earlier this year. It also boasts of class-leading legroom in the third row, plus an air-conditioning blower in the second row.
