2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205) – C 180 and C 300 Models Join the Range in Malaysia at RM229k and RM308k

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is expanding the model portfolio of its hugely-successful W205 C-Class in two directions, with a new C 180 entry model and C 300 range-topper joining the existing C 200 and C 250 variants.

Powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol direct injection engine, the new C 180 lowers the entrance price into the realm of C-Class ownership to RM228,888 on-the-road excluding insurance. Trimmed in Avantgarde Line specification, the C 180 comes respectably equipped with the following items:

• 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo engine – 156hp
• 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission
• Agility Select adjustable suspension
• 17-inch alloy wheels
• Audio 20 CD infotainment - internet capability, radio, twin tuner, CD player, Bluetooth, satellite navigation
• Active Park Assist – parallel and reverse perpendicular

At the other end of the scale is the C 300, kitted in AMG Line trim and powered by an uprated version of the 200 and 250’s 2.0-litre turbocharged engine to generate 245hp and 370Nm. At RM307,888 with on-road costs excluding insurance, it squares nicely against BMW’s similarly-powered 330i M Sport (252hp, 350Nm, RM298k).

Mated with a 7-speed automatic transmission as with the rest of the C-Class range, the C 300 comes in at 5.9 seconds for the century sprint en route to a governed top speed of 250km/h.

As the flagship of the mainstream C-Class range, the C 300 comes fitted with:

• 19-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels
• Sports suspension – ride height lowered by 15mm
• AMG body kit – front apron, front splitter, side sill panel, rear diffuser
• Sports exhaust
• LED intelligent headlights with Adaptive High Beam Assist
• COMAND Online infotainment - DVD player, radio, 10 GB memory, 8.4-inch colour display, touchpad
• Burmester Surround Sound – 13 speakers, 590W output
• Air-Balance Package
• Electric Panoramic Sunroof
